Professional Background
Alderman Thomas joined Clark Hill PLC February 2018. She established the Law Offices of Latasha R. Thomas in 1994 after clerking for Cook County Circuit Court Judge Odas Nicholson in the Law Division, Motion practice. Alderman Thomas also has experience in the Chicago Corporation Counsel’s Labor and Personnel Litigation office. She has been elected to four consecutive terms as Alderman in the Chicago City Council.
Alderman Thomas authors and shepherds ordinances through the legislative municipal process. She also lobbies for issues affecting Chicago residents with the State of Illinois Legislature, the United States Congress, the Illinois Governor and his cabinet members and the United States President and his cabinet members. Additionally, as Chairman of the Education Committee for Chicago City Council, she spearheads and shepherds education issues with the Chicago Public Schools and Chicago City Colleges. Alderman Thomas also initiates, plans and executes residential and commercial development in the City of Chicago.
Alderman Thomas sits on the Board of Directors (Secretary) for Coordinated Advice and Referral Programs for Legal Services, an organization providing legal aid services to low income residents in Cook County, as well as the Greater Auburn Gresham Community Development Corporation and Teamwork Englewood, organizations providing andcoordinating development opportunities in Chicago.
